Mission
“To capitalise the outcomes of world class Internet research and development for Australia”
Smart Internet Technology CRC (Smart Internet) was established in June 2001 and is an incorporated joint venture between industry, leading universities and State Governments. With access to approximately $100 million over a seven year period, including a $22million Commonwealth Government grant, its key purpose is to develop new technologies in the Smart Internet arena, carrying out world-class research into disruptive Internet technologies that have global commercial opportunity.
Smart Internet will combine research in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Social Interaction and Network Development to create enabling technologies for smart Internet applications that will allow users and network providers to manage the complexity of the Internet. It is critical that these new enabling technologies meet the needs of people, are useful, flexible, readily accessible and affordable.
