Biography:

Dean has extensive experience in R and D management and venture creation, especially in end-user applications over advanced networking technologies. Most recently Dean was one of the architects of the successful Smart Services CRC bid. His current work at Smart Internet has seen him develop several projects in the media and health areas. Prior to the CRC, he was Research Director of Networking Technologies at CSIRO's ICT Centre and he was also CEO of the Centre for Networking Technologies for the Information Economy. In an earlier life, Dean co-founded QPSX Communications, and has held senior technical roles at Alcatel and Jtec. Dean's formal studies were at the University of California Berkeley and the University of Western Australia. Dean is a frequently invited speaker to a variety of industry forums.
